The Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Then, on
Tuesday, February 17, 1942, The Record newspaper carried this article on six Hackensack young men living within one block of each other getting ready to leave for
Fort Dix, NJ that day.

Frank Adamski, whose name is on the Original Wall Unit at
Hackensack High School, was one of those young men.

A brief article on the status of wounded and killed servicemen during
World War II was listed under a portion of the The Bergen Evening Record newspaper. 

Click here to view the brief article dated March 12, 1945, which stated
Frank W. Adamski getting wounded in the European Area for which he would receive
the Purple Heart.
         
On the 1946 Hackensack High School Yearbook Dedication page and the
World War II plaque at City Hall in Hackensack, Peter Adamski is listed as giving
the supreme sacrifice.

As of July 13, 2012, I do not know if Frank and Peter Adamski are related.
